From Raamsdonksveer you will make a varied cycling tour. The Ondraagde molen in Raamsdonksveer is a corn mill from 1890. You will continue cycling through a river landscape, the Loonse en Drunense dunes National Park and through the polder of the Langstraat, a region known for its shoe industry.
Waalwijk
The route starts at Hotel Heere. In the centre of Raamsdonksveer, also a great place to enjoy a drink and a bite to eat. You cycle over the former Halvezolenlijn, a railway line that ran through the Langstraat. It is nice and quiet cycling on this route. In Raamsdonk you will pass the striking Sint-Bavokerk from 1888, you will also see some beautiful old farms here. A little later you cycle a considerable distance through the forests of the Loonse en Drunense Duinen National Park (over 3500 hectares in size) and you pass Giesbergen, The Resting Hunter.
The Efteling
You cycle past the forest of the Efteling amusement park, after which you cycle through the Huis ter Heide estate towards the Donge polder. The Donge river is a typical lowland stream. Such a stream has no clear source, but is formed when groundwater and rainwater gradually cluster into a stream. For the Donge, this is the border area between Alphen and Baarle-Nassau. The stream is still called the Oude Ley here. The Oude Ley runs via a culvert under the Wilhelmina Canal and then continues, from Dongen, as the Donge to the mouth of the Amer, the river was used in many ways by the many tanneries in the area.
